Better pranks through chemistry
Contributed by: Mad Vlad
Expense: Medium
Number of people: Can be done with one, but it is peferable to have at least two, one
of each gender.
Time: Several hours preperation, then about a minute per bathroom
Materials: A supply of polyacrylamide - can be found in
water conservation products (Water Miser, Water Grabber) at hardware or garden
supply stores
Tools: None needed, but a small blender or grinder (NOT ONE THAT WILL BE USED FOR FOOD) is
handy
A fairly easy prank. The polyacrylamide is a chemical that
absorbs up to 500 times it's weight in water and comes in small crystals. The result looks
something like jello, but it acts faster and is not temperature dependent. Depositing this
in the toilets of your school will have predictable results. I would advise leaving at least
one bathroom clear - what happens when YOU have to go? Grinding the crystals to a rough
powder allows them to act faster than normal, while still seperating out enough to act at
their maximum efficiency. Practice a few times before you do it at school to get used to the
time you will need. The beauty of this? If you are caught, there is a simple way to clean
all the toilets out - salt. Salt breaks down the gel, so all you need to clean up is a big
bag of rocksalt and a paint stirrer to mix it all up.
